Zagreus is one of the long standing Bulgarian wineries with great reputation over the years with the team’s strong belief that what happens in the vineyard and in their consciousness determines the result in the bottle. It’s about growing the best grapes under the best possible conditions, as well as to devote their thoughts and intentions to make a wine that reflects the best their terroir and themselves as a team. It’s about being relentless in the pursuit of quality and trying their best to keep the nature clean. Dimitar Kostadinov is a third generation winemaker where his professional paths lead him back in 1998 when his father Yordan and grandfather Dimitar bought 120 hectares of land near the village of Parvomay in Thracian Valley and began planting vineyards the next year with their first harvest being back in 2004. At that time Dimitar Jr. attended The University of Mechatronics in Linz, Austria, where he met his wife and after much consideration, he and Lisa returned to Bulgaria in 2006 to run the winery. His long term ambition was to improve the development of the vineyards and winery so they started looking after them organically since 2010 and getting BIO certified in 2013.
